Bridging Damp Explained: It’s Not Always Rising Damp
In this short video, we take a closer look at a common damp issue that’s often misdiagnosed as rising damp — bridging.
At this property, the internal plaster had been applied all the way down to the solid floor, bypassing the original damp proof course (DPC) and allowing moisture to rise into the wall.
No injection work was required. By identifying the true cause and removing the bridging plaster, the wall was able to breathe and dry out naturally.
This is a great example of why careful diagnosis matters — and how we avoid unnecessary treatments.
📍 Location: East Yorkshire
🛠️ Fix: Remove bridging plaster, allow wall to ventilate
